President Steve Merrill

Steve has the title of Project Manager for the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) in Columbus, NE. What he does is take an idea, sets the budget, schedule, and scope, and sees it through to completion. He’s been doing this for a number of years. Steve has a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, a Master’s of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Wayne State College. Steve earned his Project Management Professional designation in June 2007.

Sandra Zwiener is an IT program manager with Department of Homeland Security. During her 20 years with the government, she has led systems development, network design and administration, system administration, and FISMA compliance. She has a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science. She earned her PMP in February 2007 and is Practitioner certified in ITIL v2.

Dawn Hopwood, PMP 

Dawn Hopwood is the Training Manager for PAE on the SCOSS contract at the Nebraska Service Center. She has been at the NSC for over 16 years in some type of management capacity and doing various aspects of project management. Dawn has an AA from Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport CT a BA in Liberal Arts from Doane University. She earned her PMP in 2010 and holds the Six Sigma Green Belt credential as well.

Atwell Mukuska

Atwell is the Project Management Office Lead with the Nebraska Department of Education, Lincoln. He is a well-travelled and experienced Project Manager managing projects from the public and private sectors across the world. Atwell holds an MBA degree from the Nottingham Trent University in England and has over 20 years’ work experience in Information Technology and project management. His passion is to make a difference and improve people’s lives through process improvements in their daily work.

Brenda Bland VP Programs
Brenda Bland

Brenda Bland works for Ascension Information Services (AIS).  She is the Program Manager for the Virtual Care Program.   Ascension is the largest the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system.  AIS is a subsidiary of Ascension.  The three initiatives that Brenda is managing are Telemedicine, Direct to Consumer and Remote Monitoring.  She started with AIS December 2016.

Prior to working at Ascension, Brenda was the Director Customer Relations and IT Strategic Planning at Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), a position she held for five years.  At CHI, she directed the IT Strategic Planning and created the Customer Experience Program.   Brenda also developed and implemented the ITIL Demand Management process and tool.  

Earlier in her career, Brenda gained extensive experience in application development, integration and portfolio/program and project management.  She is certified project management professional (PMP since 2009) from Project Management Institute (PMI) and a certified professional healthcare information management systems (CPHIMS) from Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).  Brenda has extensive experience leading virtual teams and projects.

Brenda holds a bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University in Management of Information Systems.

Brenda is a member of several professional organizations, including the Project Management Institute (PMI) including the Mid-Nebraska Chapter and Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) including the Nebraska Chapter. Brenda leads the Hunger and Poverty Response Committee for her church, is the Chair of Lincoln’s Interfaith Peacemaking Coalition, serves as a volunteer for Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach, and is a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW).

Andrew Storz
Andy Storz is the Chief Agile and Innovation Officer for Virtual C, a consulting company based in Lincoln, NE. He has several years of experience in agile transformation and coaching, project management with mergers and acquisitions for a private equity holding company as well as finance specific and enterprise software implementations. In addition to the PMP, Andy holds various certifications for Agile, Six Sigma and Scrum. He and his wife, Darlyn, have five children.
