Organizational Benefits of Contracting

Please join us Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 6pm CST for a special evening with two presenters to discuss organizational benefits of contracting for At the Elbow (ATE) support during organizational onboarding of new software or technology.  This presentation will focus on the human aspects of change, the need for individualized assistance, scheduling support and working collaboratively with a third-party vendor to provide exceptional service to end users.

Richard Young has crossed through many avenues to define his professional path from an immigrant to a USMC Reservist to a dedicated father, entrepreneur, avid software trainer, and instructional designer. Richard emigrated from Jamaica at the age of 10 with one desire in mind, to be the best wherever his mind took him. Immediately after graduating high school, Richard enrolled in the USMC Reserves, which piqued his interest during his senior year. He would serve six years as a Marine, enduring temperatures many of us could only imagine, for example, from -60° to 150°, unfathomable for most. Richard prides himself with this saying that most of us are familiar with “A Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one”. Richard has had his hands in many fields such as carpentry, residential appraisals and mortgage fraud, private investigator, limo driver and even lobster hunting. As a Florida resident, his hobbies include scuba diving and spending time with his lovely children.

Professionally Richard became a part of the EMR industry by working go-lives across the country ten years ago. He worked with many hospitals across the Nation, and if you thought of a hospital, he would say that he has worked there more than likely.

His position as an ATE or at the elbow support is the first-line defense/resource for implementing any project and a critical factor in the implementation. He has encountered many professions such as assisting surgeons, medical doctors in various specialties, nurses, techs, therapists, secretaries, and ancillary service members. What he enjoys is meeting different people from diverse backgrounds such as a Queen … ok, ok, you're right, she was not a Queen; however, he has met a Prince, professors, music producers, different artists, well-known doctors and even a psychiatrist on these go-lives. He has actively been a part of this industry for over 10yrs. Although he started as ATE support assisting medical staff in learning a new software system, he rose to become a team lead over various employees to managing projects with a team of over 250 resources. In addition, he has worked as a trainer, from ATE training the client to managing the training teams. Sometimes, you find yourself on these go-lives not solely providing ATE support but also assisting with the build to the instructional design; in other words, be flexible. That has always been his motto.

Christi Moock is an IT Project Manager with Bryan Health.  She has been with the organization for the past 19 years serving first in the Medical Staff Services office and transitioning to Information Technology in 2014.  Christi has a bachelor’s in healthcare management and a master’s in information systems with a focus on Healthcare.  Christi had the opportunity to work alongside Richard Young during Bryan Medical Center’s Epic Implementation in March 2018 and the Epic onboarding of Merrick Medical Center in September 2019.  Christi is passionate about end user impact and support.  She is your current PMI Mid Nebraska Program Chair and is very excited to share Bryan’s experience with ATE support and the benefits of planning for this cost when implementing new systems.
